Peggy Mends

Pathway Leader for 3D Design - Extended Diploma & Foundation Diploma

Peggy Mends serves as the Pathway Leader for 3D Design, Foundation Art & Design, and the Extended Diploma at Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts (ɫɫÀ²).

Her educational background includes graduating with a first-class Bachelor of Arts degree from Leeds College of Art and Design, followed by a Master’s degree in Textile Design from the renowned Royal College of Art in London.

After completing her studies, Peggy embarked on a successful career as a freelance designer, collaborating with a diverse range of luxury fashion, interior, automotive, and high street brands. Her portfolio includes work for prestigious names such as Aston Martin Lagonda, McLaren Automotive, Jakob Shlaepfer Switzerland, Paul Davies London, and Laura Ashley. In addition to her freelance practice, she has contributed to education by lecturing at universities and leading workshops in schools, colleges, and charities.

Peggy’s professional experience is grounded in creative, critical, and contextual thinking. This approach led her to a role with Arts Council England, where she worked as a Creative Producer and Practitioner. In this capacity, she engaged at a grassroots level with local communities in Cambridgeshire, collaborating with both national and international artists to make art and creativity more accessible across Cambridgeshire and Fenland.

Central to Peggy’s own creative practice is an exploration of the connections between community, well-being, textiles, memory, colour, and place. She employs a multidisciplinary approach to examine how creativity can bring people together and foster a sense of belonging.
