Martin Andersen

Senior Lecturer & Course Leader for MA Visual Communication

Originally from Denmark, Martin is an internationally-renowned art director, designer and photographer. His film and animation work has won more than 20 international awards, and both his design and photography have been exhibited and published internationally.

He studied at the Royal College of Art (MA), before launching a successful career in Visual Communication, first working with Vaughan Oliver at v23, where he contributed to some of the most iconic imagery in contemporary popular music, before founding his own award winning studio, Andersen M.

Andersen has directed films for Channel 4, Discovery Channel and ITV and music videos for artists such as: The Breeders, Lush, lceage and Lowly. Additionally, his photographic work has been published and exhibited internationally in China, France, Japan, Mexico, UK and USA.

His academic career spans over 20 years lecturing at the UK’s leading design schools. Teaching both Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, Fashion Styling and Film-Making. Andersen is currently the Course Leader for the MA Visual Communication courses at ɫɫÀ² (Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts), he has previously lectured at Central Saint Martins (School of Fashion, UAL), and at the University of Brighton (Visual Communication). He was the International Jury for Visuelt, Oslo, Norway, 2018 and 2019.

In 2024, Martin hadÌý23 pieces of his design and photography work included in a major retrospective exhibition,ÌýRock Pop Underground, at M21 Gallery in Pécs, Hungary.

With an illustrious career marked by accolades, exhibitions, and a passion for education, Martin continues to inspire and shape the creative landscape with his exceptional talent and dedication to the field of design.

Winner of 20 International Awards including 2 Gold Lions at Cannes 2010 and 3 CLIO’s for the stop-frame animation Going West

1st prize in the Young Director Award by CFP-E/Shoots in 2010.
